Best card for Linux and DOS.
Hi folks.
Sorry for posting yet-another one of those "Best card for..." messages, but I
would like some recommendations for a sound card which is supported in both
Linux and DOS ( MSDOS 6.0 .) in a PCI-based system.
I have a SB16, which works great in my old ISA 486 system, but don't
work with some games ( e.g Red Alert ) in my PCI-based system. These games
detect the card, but can't play sound ( they try, but no sound comes out.)
I have an on-board ESS audio chip. But in DOS I've only been able to get
music to play, no sound FX. As expected, ASUS is ignoring all my emails. The
on-board audio works fine in Linux with ALSA.
Here's my system:
K6-2 350MHz
Asus P5A-A with on-board ESS Solo1-based audio
RedHat Linux 6.0
MSDOS 6.0
Thanks in advance.
'later...
