Re: sympatico & linux???

Yes, I confirm: Linux works just fine with Sympatico HSE. Otherwise, I
wouldn't be able to post this message ;-) When they say "not supported",
they want to say "we do not provide technical support for it".

The best package to use is rp-pppoe by RoaringPenguin.com. It's
installed by default on Mandrake Linux, and I think it's on the RedHat
CDs as well. If not, you can download it from the Roaring Penguin
website.

One thing to note though: there are two ways to connect.
- One is the manual configuration (adsl-setup, adsl-start, etc), but you
have to remember to put "@sympatico.ca" after your username.
- The other is the tk-pppoe graphical interface, it's highly
recommended. On this one, you don't put "@sympatico.ca", you enter your
plain username, and put "sympatico.ca" in another box (called Network,
or Provider, I don't remember).
