SCO/RBC vs Open Source
[ Version Française ]
On October 16th, 2003, the SEC (US Security and Exchange Commission) confirmed that the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) invested US $30 million in The SCO Group ( ZDNet News).
Given the fact that SCO has taken hostile action against free software and well known companies that contribute to free software, we, users, developers and members of the Open Source community from Canada protest the recent investment of RBC in The SCO Group.
As gesture of solidarity towards the GNU/Linux movement we invite all the Canadians to:
- close their RBC bank account and explain to their local RBC branch manager why they are doing so.
- sign this petition which will be delivered to the RBC CEO.

SCO / RBC: online petition
We, open source users, are very concerned by the recent investment of the RBC into SCO. The current hostile campaign of SCO against the open source model should not be supported by the RBC. This campaign is against the economical and ethical interest of every company using open source software and every user of open source software in the world.
We ask the RBC:
- to stop any further investment in the SCO company
- to remove the actual (US$ 30 million) investment from the SCO company.
